Eleventh-Hour Provision
Why does it so often happen that God answers our prayers at the 11th hour?
Until our own home is vacated by our tenants next August, we need a place to stay here in Ontario temporarily. For the past 3 weeks, we have loved being with our son and his family, living in a 4-bedroom house with 6 children, sleeping on a mattress on the floor in their music/computer/office/school room, but it is not an arrangement that can work over the long term.
We knew this months ago and have been praying accordingly. But it was not until one day last week that any prospects even came to view. Then everything came together in a few days. Not only that, but we will not even be paying utilities for 11 weeks! (This will help pay our way to Nicaragua next March, where we’ll be taking our two eldest grandsons on a Journey of Compassion with Impact Nations.) In exchange, I will be stripping wallpaper and painting the walls of a small spare room where we will be house-sitting during that time. Before and after our house-sitting job, we will be sharing our friends’ house where we will have our own room!
Once again, our prayers are answered and then some!
But back to my original question, could it be that our Father knows that as soon as we get an answer we won’t seek Him or pray as diligently? Perhaps it is more important, to us and to Him, that we remain close than that we know how our needs will be met in the future.

so true sylv, so true.
you are wise –
some words i really needed to read
miss your bubbly smile
Sylvia…I happened upon your blog while looking at paintings online, yours are beautiful by the way, but as I scrolled down to look, your words kept jumping off the page at me….funny, I was looking at artwork trying to get my mind off things in fact I wanted no thoughts at all, and I end up reading this and weeping, your words are soothing on a day when I felt like Satan chased me down and tackeled me, so scared of whats going to happen to my family and I was absolutly questioning my faith, what have I done wrong to make all these bad things happen, even questioning my tithes, I just felt lost….I am not sure what is wrong with you, I gather you have a serious illness but not sure what…but your strength is inspiring and your walk with the Lord is where I strive to be, falling short every day of my life. I relate to so much of what you said here, but my life is very very different, but we are still the same, I feel so insignificant today all I can think of is his eye is on the sparrow…thanks for writing out your thoughts and sharing your experience strength and hope and I will hit my knees and pray for you tonight. God Bless you, Liz from Indiana
Dear Liz,
How are you doing today? Thanks for your prayers. I have been diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia) – If you have to have leukemia, it’s the best kind to get because it’s treated successfully in 98% of cases with a fairly new drug called Gleevec.
By the way, if you are falling short every day in your walk with the Lord, then we are indeed very much the same. But I’m learning that it’s not about our faithfulness and righteousness. It’s about His! This is where we can rest, my friend.
Hi Sylvia,
I am doing fine today, thanks. Hope you are healthy and happy today. I was going through my list of websites I had bookmarked and saw yours and clicked here and saw you wrote something to me. You are thoughtful. I am so sorry for your diagnosis, and thank God it is that treatable, you have such a positive outlook and I am sure that helps alot. I had the best time in prayer the night I read your website and the Lord really gave me some peace with things, I will continue to pray for you. I also have been ill in the past for a long period and have experienced tremendous healing, my husband also received a very special healing when Oral Roberts Ministry prayed for him. I want to tell you about an amish man named Solomon Wickey though. He is in Indiana and my family knows people who have went to him and been healed of all sorts of cancers etc… If you get a sec. try googling his name and read the messege boards on him, just something to keep in mind, he is a very spiritual man of course and also has studied irridology, and several other things, many many people go to him from all over the country and most have been healed. I could tell you tons about him but you could read it for yourself. UUggh, I sound like a commercial or something, sorry,I just feel like when I meet someone who is sick I have to tell them about him since I do know for a fact that he can heal you (the Lord works through him) he is so knowledgable people actually mail him upclose pictures of themselves and he can diagnos and tell you what to do for it that way. He is amish so everything he does is natural. Anyway, sorry I wrote so much. If you ever want to write my email is bentnotbroken141@aol.com. You are so right about our faithfulness, I would be in real trouble if it was just about mine wouldnt I! It is for sure about his, I am so glad you said that, in fact it hits me right where I live today. God Bless and I wish for you healing and happiness! Liz
